NFT Drop Proposal / Spring 2021
Overview
Los Angeles based artist Charlie Edmiston to release an NFT drop with Nifty Gateway. The collection will consist of multiple timed open editions, along with three auction-format editions. The highest bidder from each auction will receive a physical 1 of 1 wall sculpture in a custom crate with a signed certificate of authenticity.
The best part - a portion of the artists’ proceeds will benefit Happy Trails for Kids. This non-profit organization provides year-round activities for children in the Southern California foster care system.
⚡About the Drop⚡
Since 2007, Charlie has been making abstract work, leading to a recent series entitled “Rotating Shapes”. These physical wall sculptures can be hung in any direction, based on the collector’s mood or space. In the past few months, Edmiston has been developing version 2.0 of the series with some incredible motion designers on a number of digital editions.
Below is a rough sample. The actual artwork is still being produced.
The NFT release will include several different shape and color combinations rotating in a seamless loop, paired with ambient sound to relax the viewer. Collectors will be able to experience the NFT as a living and timeless rendition of the physical work. By utilizing the same color and material present in the originals, the digital artwork maintains a close relationship to the actual sculptures.
About the Artist
Born and raised in Los Angeles, Charlie began his career as a graffiti artist working in a variety of styles and mediums, including colorful hard-edge paintings, large-scale murals, and bold design graphics.
While attending Otis College of Art and Design, Edmiston expanded his work to include letters and geometric shapes, which formed the basis of his abstract paintings. His multi-media works elicit strong emotional reactions due to his unique form, material and palette choices.
Charlie’s use of vibrant colors embody the energy of L.A. along with the allure of Southern California. His distinctive style has gained international recognition.
